FCA ALL ABILITIES CAMP 2026

PROVEN • JOHN 15:8

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Thank you so much for giving your time to be part of the 2026 FCA All Abilities Camp. This is genuinely one of the best things we do all year — and it would not happen without you. Our theme is PROVEN, and you are living proof of what it looks like to show up for someone.

Please read everything below carefully before Friday. Questions? Jenny Dow — jdow@fca.org // 425.293.9550.

FIRST — IF YOU’RE FEELING NERVOUS

That is completely normal and honestly a great sign — it means you care. Here’s what you need to know:

✔ Every single camper has their own buddy. You are never out there alone.

✔ Each group has two dedicated Group Leaders as extra hands throughout the day.

✔ If a camper becomes really distressed, your job is to find a Group Leader immediately — they will come get Jenny. We have extra help specifically for this reason.

✔ Jenny is your day-of point person for anything that comes up. Find her on-site or text her at 425.293.9550.

YOUR CAMP SHIRT

You will receive your volunteer camp shirt when you arrive. Wear it both days so campers and families can identify you easily.

THE BIG PICTURE

We’re expecting 20+ campers this year! Campers will be split into two groups — one for older kids, one for younger — and we’ll rotate through four sport stations we call the 4 Quarters. The sports this year are soccer, baseball, football, and ninja/obstacle course.

Sport coaches will facilitate each station. Your job as a buddy is to be right there with your camper — not as an assistant, but as a playmate. Get in there, play alongside them, cheer them on, and have fun.

Our goal is simple: give every kid the best sports camp experience possible. We are not here to make professional athletes. We are here to play.

If your camper wants to walk laps around the track instead — walk with them. If they want to swing on the playground — swing with them. Follow their lead. Bring your energy. Give lots of encouragement.

THE SENSORY STATION

If your camper needs a break, walk with them to the Sensory Station — bubbles, kinetic sand, and a swing chair. No pressure, no rush. Campers are usually eager to rejoin when they feel ready. And if they’re not, you’ll have a great time there too.

THE CAMP MESSAGE

Each day there will be a short camp message delivered at half-time. Sit with your camper during the talk and help keep them engaged and focused — your calm, attentive presence makes a big difference.

On Day 1 (Friday), The Four bracelets will be handed out during the message time — if we have them. The Four is also printed on every camper’s t-shirt. If your camper is curious about what the icons mean, you can walk them through it together.

YOUR ROLE

You’ve been assigned one of the following roles. Sport assignments will be communicated to coaches before Friday.

▸ Buddy

Paired 1:1 with a specific camper for both days. You’ll receive a camper profile sheet before they arrive — read it! At check-in, take a moment to talk with their family. You are their teammate, encourager, and adventure partner all weekend.

▸ Group Leader (2 per group, 4 total)

Extra hands for your group. Help with transitions between quarters, step in wherever a buddy needs support, and be the person who comes to get Jenny if a camper is in distress.

▸ Emcee

You are the energy of camp. Lead transitions, make announcements, keep the crowd warm. Come ready to be loud and fun.

▸ Sport Coach (2 coaches, 4 sports)

You’ll run your station for both groups through Quarters 1 & 2, then rotate to a new sport for Quarters 3 & 4. Keep it fun, accessible, and adaptable for every camper. Your assignment is coming from Jenny before Friday.

▸ Sensory Station Host

Hold down the sensory area — bubbles, kinetic sand, swing chair. Calm, welcoming, and present. Make every camper who comes over feel completely at ease.

▸ Snack & Banquet Lead

Snack prep for both days plus coordinating pickup and setup for the Saturday family banquet. Details coming separately from Jenny.

▸ Check-In Crew

You’re the first face campers and families see. Be at the gate, help connect each camper to their buddy, and start the energy right.

PHOTOS

Please take photos throughout both days and share them with Jenny! These moments matter — capture as many as you can. jdow@fca.org or text to 425.293.9550.

📸 Phones out for photos — then back to being present with your camper.

LOCATION & LOGISTICS

📍 Saint Francis — 2202 Colton Blvd

Head to the south end of the school and come through the gate in the fence. Look for the welcome banner and bubbles.

⛅ Weather: Rain moves us indoors — enter through the main school doors instead of the fence gate. Lightning within 10 miles triggers a mandatory 30-minute shelter. We play games indoors while we wait and get back outside as soon as it’s safe.

💧 Water: Two coolers on the field stocked with chilled bottles. Camper names written on bottles at check-in with a Sharpie.

🍎 Snacks: Apple slices and goldfish crackers. Check camper profile sheets for food allergies.

👕 Wear your camp shirt both days with comfortable athletic clothes and closed-toe shoes.

You are going to be a game-changer for your camper this weekend. See you Friday at 4:30!
